The Team

The University of New Mexico Men's Hockey team competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA M3). The Lobos were started in the 1960s by Grant Harvey Sr, and the team was later coached by former player Grant Harvey Jr. The Harvey family is a big part of Lobo Hockey successes, and still actively supports the Lobos program! Since then, the program has grown and continues to prove to be a force in the ACHA, year after year. In the past five years, the Lobos have placed top 20 in the ACHA M3 division, and have played in the National Championship Tournament twice. With a strong core of New Mexico players, the Lobo Hockey team is also a destination for out-of-state players looking for a strong hockey program! Current Coach Logan Lemirande is a former NCAA Hockey Champion and Runner-Up (University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point). Coach Lemirande hopes to transition the Lobo Hockey program into the ACHA M2 division during the 2024/2025 season.

The Fans

The team boasts one of the best fan bases in the ACHA! With about 300 fans in attendance at the Outpost Ice Arena for every game, there is often no empty seat in the stands during our home games. The Lobos travel to regional opponents for games in Colorado, Texas and Arizona. In addition, the team takes on at least two longer road trips to major cities, for at least three games per road trip. This season the Lobos will have three games in Chicago and three in Detroit. The Lobos regularly host the "Atomic Outdoor Tournament" at the outdoor rink in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
